The Albuquerque Soaring Association wants to help newcomers succeed. The growth, and the very existence of the club depends on "new blood" coming into the hobby.

Beginners can contact any of the instructors below for help with construction problems, trimming, adjustment, radio installation, and those critical first trim flights. Of course, the instructors can provide flight instruction.

Richard Shagam

Richard is our designated Beginner Representative. He has been flying R/C sailplanes since the earth was still warm, and will be happy to help with set-up, trimming, and coordinating flight instruction.

Taylor Collins

Taylor operates an R/C Soaring specialty supply business called Soaring Stuff, was R/C soaring columnist for Model Builder Magazine, and has over 35 years of R/C experience. He is presently editor of the IMAA HighFlight magazine for Giant Scale R/C models.

Fred McClung

Fred is a retired engineer, and the designer and builder of the famous "Fred-a-Plane" all composite sailplane.
